The square allows anyone with an iPhone to accept credit card payments right on their device. Just plug a device into the top of your iPhone, launch the app, swipe the card and accept payments. While this is by no means a new feature, (people have been using their cellphones as credit card terminals for about 5 years)… this is a breakthrough in portability and accessibility in terms hardware and software. It’s pretty ingenious stuff.
I had my first 3-D experience over the holiday break. James Cameron’s, Avatar, is a new kind of action film that reinvents the term “special effects.” As a child I remember using red and blue glasses to see images pop off a page, but this 3-D motion picture takes it to another level. Cameron’s incredible imagery actually pulls you into the film, making you one of the characters experiencing the action.
After leaving the theater, I wondered how difficult will it be to reproduce the effect on other devises. Will I soon be able to watch my favorite HDTV shows in 3-D? Media Week published an article confirming DirectTV’s plan to move into this three dimensional world and I cannot wait to see it!
For all the Apple lovers out there you can now design your own iPhone or iTouch stand. Be the envy of the office when you display this beautiful piece of art…co-workers will walk by your desk and want one.
Recently, I came across a template for an iphone stand. The beauty and simplicity really caught my eye…and I don’t even own an iPhone! It was created by a fellow blogger, Julien Madérou. He is an industrial designer out of France and has a really interesting blog, check it out for your self here: Dessine moi un objet
